A lot of recording people are doing these days is done on a laptop which is an amazing time in the development of the technology we are using.  Over a short period of time we have gone from analog recording to digital. I have been in the biz long enough to see this change.  We at Binary still like using a recording console!

Piano Recording, Binary Recording Studio

Recording piano’s to represent the quality of a great piano and player is different every time.  I have seen that some studios / engineers have a one way method that they use to capture the sound.

I have found that the piano which is really a percussion instrument sounds different with every player.  It really depends on the style and how the player strikes the keys of the instrument.  One player seems to play in such a way that the sound may be brighter or darker.

This require possible different mics / setup then what you may have used before.  Binary Recording Studio
